How to enable IIS on Windows 8 or Windows 10

Windows 10 installs IIS 10 by default instead of IIS-8. Although Windows 10 install IIS by default, IIS is still an Optional “Windows Features”, hence needs to be enabled as per the need.

Step 1: Open Turn Windows features on or off via Control Panel.

Go to Run and type  appwiz.cpl

This will open the Program and Features part of Control Panel, on the left-hand side click on the “Turn Windows features on or off”.

Now click on the Internet Information Services check box.

You can expand submenus and explore the sub-components as well. By default, it installs all the stuff needed to host a website.

Now Click Ok and wait Windows to apply changes. Once Changes Complete, restart your PC (recommended)

Now go to the browser and type localhost as the address to navigate IIS.

Enjoy IIS
